Frequently asked questions

A few things to know before you speak with our team.

Does it prevent all pneumonia?

No. Pneumococcal vaccination helps protect against selected pneumococcal bacteria, not every cause of pneumonia.

What if I had a pneumonia vaccine before?

Bring the vaccine name and date if you have them. The recommendation and public funding depend on your vaccine history, so the pharmacist will check it.

Is it an annual vaccine?

No. It is not an annual vaccine. Many adults need a single dose, but your individual plan can differ.

What are common side effects?

A sore arm, tiredness, headache or mild fever can happen. These effects usually last 1 to 2 days. Tell your pharmacist about any previous severe vaccine allergy.
